I viewed the program for more than half of the 2-3/4 hours it was scheduled, and paused it when I had to leave my PC for a while. When I returned to finish viewing, I was brought back to the beginning. How can I resume where I left off!?!? Also, the video focus was poor.
I’m sorry to hear you lost your place in the program. Obviously this is a huge inconvenience for you. Unfortunately, you’ll need to start from the beginning. If you’re taking the course for CLE credit, you cannot fast forward as it’s required by the CLE administrative boards that we do not include that feature. I’ll let our video production team know about the poor focus of the webcast. Is there anything we can do to make it up to you? Please email me directly if so, chris[dot]knutson@thomsonreuters[dot]com
The mobile app is one of the best ways to take CLE courses, in my opinion. It turns down time into very productive time. I much prefer this to going to class, or having to be glued to a computer monitor.
I suggest that they run some volume leveling software on the programs before publishing them, though. Some programs are better than others, but there have been several that have huge ranges of volumes, from barely audible to overpoweringly loud. And that terrible verification chime makes it much worse, because when the volume has to be turned up for presentation that is too quiet, it about blows your eardrums out. There has to be an easy software fix for this problem.
All in all a great concept and a good program. I am looking forward to the Android app ASAP.
Thanks for your comment, Mike. It’s always nice to hear when our products are making CLE more convenient for our customers.
I apologize for the volume issue you’ve been experiencing. I can imagine how annoying this must have been. We do run normalizing software on all of our programs. However, when a program is converted to the audio-only version, sometimes the volume weakens. We have received other comments regarding the verification chime and are working to improve it in version 3.
Stay tuned for CLE Mobile on other platforms like Android and Blackberry. I will inform you of any developments in this regard.
We rely on feedback of this type to ensure we’re meeting the expectations of our customers. Again, thank you for letting us know of your concern. We appreciate your business and want to provide you with the best service possible.
I find it very odd that you would come out with this application for iPhones alone when iPhones hold only about 1/4 share of the smartphone market in the US. Do you have any infromation about when this will be available on other platforms?
Thanks for your comment, Daniel. We continue to investigate other platforms such as BlackBerry and Android. However, each poses new challenges in terms of user experience, regulatory and compliance safegaurds, etc. We want to ensure the user experience is at a level our customers would expect before releasing an app. Stay tuned.
Corey, couple of things to double check. First be sure the programs you purchased are mobile compatible. It should say mobile compatible to the right of the program title in your My Programs on the website. Second be sure that your user name and password are the same on westlegaledcenter.com as on the CLE Mobile app. This is highly recommended and essential to pass information between the site and the app. Finally sync the app. Your new mobile compatible programs which you purchased on the website should appear in “Available for Download” on the app. Please let us know if you have further questions. Tech support can be reached at 1.800.495.9378 or feel free to email us at CLEMobile@westlegaledcenter.com Thanks
I tried the “starter” ethics program that the app comes with and it worked fine. I loved how my existing login worked with no special steps, I got my certificate with no problems and I thought it was a nice touch to include the powerpoint slides. Complaint: whenever you have to hit the button to confirm attendance, you have to close the supplemental content and when you reopen it, it opened up at the beginning instead of where you closed it. It would make sense to either make the verification button pop up wherever you are in the app or to make the supplemental content bookmark wherever you last opened it. It really turned me off to following along in the slides when I had to keep scrolling through to get back to the right spot.
As an aside, for some reason, I can’t search for or see any listing of other programs to view/listen to. Either the interface is harder to understand than it looks or there’s a problem with the mobile content provider right now.
Larry, like westlegaledcenter.com, your programs will automatically expire (and disappear from your device) 180 days after your purchase or enrollment. We plan to add the ability to delete programs from your device in future versions of CLE Mobile.
Coming from the CLE world I think this app is supposed to do what you’d expect.
But does it deliver? Technically speaking in my opinion, and just my opinion, says no. Why?
The tracking is pretty easy to get around which I don’t think WestLegal Ed would want in order to retain it’s integrity.
Technically, when I was creating my account I routinely got a blank orange screen.I never knew if my app was working or not because stuff just kept hanging leaving me in a endless “Page Loading” screen. No timeout or anything?!
I’m looking at menu buttons available for me to touch but when I touch them they do nothing. Why have buttons up if I can’t use them?
Super long downloads even at 3G/Wifi…I wouldn’t blame my service provider on that one.
There could be a better way at presenting program material in my opinion.
Discussion aren’t updated instantly. Rather you have to wait on the next app load?! Why are discussion forums not dated? I feel apps like these were you are mobile and there is a forum for discussion then time should be invested in it being interactive. Not just some afterthought requirement.
When I go to “LEARN MORE” in their app I just don’t see it…web page not optimized??
Pros-
Looks pretty
Simple enough interface.
Nice mp3 player, obviously when you do have content download to the phone.
So to sum up if you’re into pretty and nice looking things then this is for you. If you already have an account and have tons of time to download programs to your iPhone then this app is for you. If you like the bells and whistles then this app ain’t for you.
Anybody who feels I’m wrong on this please please PLEASE contact me directly.
Henry, thanks for your feedback. We’ll be reaching out to you to learn more about your experience with the app. It is always extremely helpful to hear from our users.
West LegalEdcenter plans to make key content accessible on a variety of mobile devices, beginning with Apple. Stay tuned for more information throughout 2010.

I have enrolled for several programs on my PC that do not show up on my app. Are the programs accessible via the app different from the website?

Superb product. I realize it is new, but it works very well. Looking forward to future updates to include video. Excellent job!
Hello!?! iPhones are cool and all but are most of your users on the blackberry? when will that app be available?
Andrew, we’ll be looking at developing apps for other devices in 2010.
Interesting & useful features but it lacks and doesn’t work all the time.
Coming from the CLE world I think this app is supposed to do what you’d expect.

Moderation of comments is a nice way at presenting the honesty of consumers

VERY powerful tool – now I can take your programs everywhere I go. And the sync feature is really cool…PLUS IT’S FREE!!!
Will you have the CLE app for other devices?
West LegalEdcenter plans to make key content accessible on a variety of mobile devices, beginning with Apple. Stay tuned for more information throughout 2010.
Looks like a powerful app that will provide the luxury of earning CLE credits while on the go.
